At Renovation Church, we believe that God is the giver of all things. Life. Our gifts. Talents. And even our finances. As the maker of all, He ultimately has the right to everything we have and everything we are. God invites us to become part of His family through faith in Jesus. When we take that step we become his adopted children and we’re invited and commanded to jump in and be part of the family business: reaching others with the message of His love and grace.

So what does this mean for our finances and our giving?

2 Corinthians 9:7,12-15 outlines it quite well:

icon-quote-left Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver…He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift! icon-quote-right

God doesn’t need our money, but He does want our hearts to be turned toward Him. As His children, we should care about the work He’s doing through His church. We should contribute generously and regularly towards that goal as an expression of thanks and worship to Him. At Renovation, we believe tithing (contributing 1/10th of our earnings to the church) is a Biblical concept and just as Jesus was concerned with the status of our hearts, so are we. If our hearts are in line with God, then giving will not be a burden or obligation, but a blessing.

So we encourage people to give generously, as written in 2 Corinthians 9. Not out of compulsion, but out of the heart.

You also have the option to give in person by cash or check during our weekly Renovation services. Service times are found at the bottom of our ‘About’ page.
